sunday night surf-n-shop
(We’re all busy these days, and weekend downtime is the perfect opportunity to cross things off the shopping list and get the latest necessaries. This week, as April showers loom, Beth hunts for raingear for her toddler.)
When she was little, my daughter just sat in her stroller with a cover – no further rain-proofing required. Now, she’s a puddle jumper. I’m looking for something cute, practical and cheap. Here’s what I’ve found:
A major contender from Kaboo, the print on this coat is a big bonus as butterflies are now a very big deal at my house. ($26, comfykid.com)
This creamy coat from Forty Mile Creek is named Ooh-La-La, hence the French girl and French poodle on the front. ($35, justkidsclothes.com)
More traditional, less toddler-y, this simple coat with a chic red lining and buttons comes from the same brand. ($35, justkidsclothes.com)
I love these boots with raindrops and umbrellas on them. What I don’t love is the brand name, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, running along the sides. (I try to buy logo-free…. $29, poutchild.com)
This isn’t cheap, but I love that they make it: a Burberry trench in baby and toddler sizes. ($300, burberryusaonline.com)
And the classic check boots! ($75, burberryusaonline.com)
Boden, the UK line, has great kids clothes. And, they know wellies. The bad news? These are almost all sold out. However the blue “disco dot” style on the far left is still available, and at a deep discount. ($14.50, sizes 28 and 29 only, bodenusa.com)

Last but not least, the Gap — maker of reliably cute toddler clothes. The downside? It’s hard to tell junior apart from the other moppets since every other kid on the playground wears Gap gear. ($35, gap.com)
I still haven’t decided what to get her. Or even thought about umbrellas! Any favorites or new ideas? — Beth J.

I bought my daughter the Kaboo butterfly coat last year and she LOVED it. I think I’ll be buying a larger one of the same for her this year as I just can’t find anything better. There just aren’t many good rain coats out there for little girls!

[...] but the coat is even cuter in person than online. (And at $26 the price was right.) Thanks again to Mark, whose positive experience buying the very same coat helped me click buy-it-now. The first test [...]
