real life test kitchen: jamie's french toast

I’m a self-confessed Anglophile, after having lived in London for a couple of years, on and off now and then. So I’ve been a fan of Jamie Oliver, a.k.a. the Naked Chef, for a while now. His restaurant, 15, in North London is amazing, and the few simple recipes of his I have tried have been five star hits. Last weekend I broke down and bought Jamie’s Dinners: The Essential Family Cookbook and immediately bookmarked the banana and blueberry French toast. I cooked it up Sunday morning and it was as yummy as it sounded. First, I mushed up blueberries, blackberries and bananas with a touch of honey, and then sandwiched some between two slices of buttered, egg-dipped bread. The fruit sandwiches were then fried up in some butter and served with more fruit on top. Tastes so good you don’t even need syrup! As I was writing this, coincidentally, 60 Minutes featured a profile of Jamie, who is so adorable with that little lisp of his. Be sure to check out his website, where you can find the French toast recipe, as well as some really active and helpful forums. — Angela M.
