mom’s day gift ideas: gardening goodies

Does Mom like to dig it up in the garden? We’ve put together fiveĀ great gifts that are sure to have her tip-toeing in the tulips with glee. To start, just because she as a soft spot for soil, she doesn’t mean she wants it under her fingernails. These Rose Checker Garden Gloves, $25, are from one of our favorite textiles stores, Hable Construction. Somehow they manage to be rugged and delicate at the same time, just like someone we know. See more Gardening Goodies for Mom on the next page.

Is it time to replace those rusty shears? Give her an upgrade with Smith and Hawken’s professional pruner, on sale for $35.20. They’re amazingly sharp and the blade is replaceable. She’ll never need another pair.

Protect her delicate features from harsh rays. L.L.Bean’s straw sun hat, $34, will do the trick. It’s flexible shape means she can wear it in her backyard, or pack it for journeys further from home.

This gorgeous orchid vase from Gump’s, $75, is real find. We’ve seen lots of smaller sea-inspired porcelain vases, but this one is large enough for a budding Phaleanopsis.

And finally, Sprout Home’s Spring Green Watering Can, $20, is so spiffy, mom can proudly keep it on display even when not in action.
