icff find: the wet lamp

wetlamp.jpg

Maybe I’ve been watching too many episodes of American Inventor, but this intriquing little gizmo stopped me in my ICFF tracks the other day. Made by Non Designs in Pasadena, CA, the WET Lamp is a glass lamp with a bulb submerged in water. True, “water” and electricity” don’t go together, but somehow these organic looking orbs work. There’s a thin sliver rod that slides in and out and works as a dimmer switch. The lamp glows brighter the deeper the rod is submerged. Like many things at ICFF, there aren’t any vendors selling this new gadget yet, but you can inquire about them through their site, nondesign.com. I’m thinking of getting one for my corporate day-job desk, where it sure to become a conversation piece, not to mention a much need mood light. — Angela M.
