craft fair goodies: check out the renegades

We spent a steamy Saturday strolling around the Renegade Craft Fair in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. A two city event that started in Chicago, the fair played host to 150 vendors, from the well-known (Fred Flare) to the impromptu (a local mom selling handmade cloth birds). After passing by ten or so booths, we were grateful not to be in the market for tee-shirts or coin purses, because the choices would have been overwhelming. Despite an overabundance of some trendy themes (skulls, guns, woodland creatures), a few clever crafters stood out. We’ll be writing more about the great finds in later posts, but in the meantime, take a gander at a few goodies that caught our eyes. Above, amazingly clever Happy Hour lamp shades, $85, made from paper drink umbrellas. They’re sprayed with phosphorescent paint to glow in the dark — how genius! Lovely hand-stitched felted pillows from My Imaginary Boyfriend.

Stuffed grilled cheese sandwiches — why not? — from mypapercrane.com.

There was a shortage of pottery and ceramics, but we loved this adorable set from Art Star Philly.

I also had fun walking around checking out the booths! It was hot and the ice cream trucks were insanely annoying! I took a few pictures of things I bought and booths. . .
