dorm decor pillow by vickie howell
College dorms are pretty standard issue in their style, but the way that they’re decorated doesn’t have to be. Make your side of the room feel like home with this super-funky pillow. click through to the next page for the complete pattern.
Materials
Crystal Palace Yarns Deco-Ribbon (30% nylon/70% acrylic; 80 yds/50g):
• 2 balls color #109 (MC)
Crystal Palace Yarns Shag (45% wool/45% acrylic/10% Polyamide):
• 2 balls Ebony (CC)
16-inch square pillow form
US size 10_ (6.5mm) needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
Large-eyed tapestry needle
Gauge
12 sts = 4 inches in MC and St st
Finished Measurements
16 x 16 inches
Directions
With MC, CO 48 sts. Work 4 inches even in St st.
Next RS row: Join in CC and work 2 rows.
Switch back to MC, knit 1 row.
Next row (WS): *P1, yo 3 times, rep from * to end.
Next row: Knit the purled sts, drop the yos.
Work even in St st for 4 more inches.
Switch to CC and work 2 rows.
With MC, cont in St st for 4 inches.
With CC, work even in St st for 4 inches.
With MC, work 4 rows in St st.
With CC, work even in St st for 7 inches.
Work 4 rows in MC.
Work 4 more inches in CC. BO.
Finishing
Fold piece in half widthwise and sew side seams using mattress stitch (see page 20), leaving top end open. Insert pillow form and sew opening.
