site we're psyched about: canvas on demand

I was looking for a festive piece of art to hang in my dining room when I found this grainy candid from my wedding and decided to forego a gallery field trip. Rather than display it in a standard picture frame, which I feared would detract from the print itself, I gave CanvasOnDemand.com a shot. The site will turn any jpeg into a beautiful stretched canvas, putting photo front and center. This 16″ by 20″ cost me $89, and I quickly justified the extra bucks by popping the print on my husband as an impromptu present. What he doesn’t know is that I just ordered another (shhhh!). Hey, what photo sites do you frequent most? –Megan K.

what a beautiful piece! thanks for linking to that – something similar was mentioned in blueprint magazine, but this service is (i think) a little cheaper. i’d like to do something like this but am always at a loss about what prints to select for it.

as for frequently visited sites, flickr, flickr, flickr!

ps – it would be fun to see this in situ once it’s hung, if it’s not too much disclosure to show us your dining room!

Came across your site thru Weddingbee.com. What a great idea to decorate your place. It is so pratical and great way to reflect on your special day. I may try it myself too… :o)

Thanks, ladies! Jess, I tried shooting it in situ and I couldn’t get the right angle to make it pop. Maybe I’ll try again…

Hey Megan K.

I drop in on http://www.photoworks.com often. I haven’t ordered anything through them yet, but love playing on their site. The photo albums look neat – great ideas there. Also I got a book for Christmas, that you might like called Photocraft – cool things to do with the pictures you love. I think the authors are Herter Frankel and Lovett. It has step by step instructions to get you through photoshop if you are not familiar on the “how to” part. It has really cool ideas. Hope you like!
