off the (project) runway: doggie dos

Last night, Bravo’s Project Runway had a design challenge where contestants had to make an outfit for a dog and the woman they imagined owned it. Dog owners are in the minority here at Shelterrific, but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate fab threads for Fido. Inspired by the show, here’s a roundup of some great doggie gear online. (Above, Trixie and Peanut‘s lollipop sweater, $55. They have an amazing selection!) Click through to the next page to see four more fabulously dressed doggies.

A too-cute fisherman’s outfit from Target — and it’s only $13. (target.com)

“Mommy and doggy” matching shirts (vavadog.com, $30).

Don’t sniff at the challenge — Polo makes high-end cashmere sweaters for dogs. (polo.com, $95)

And for the punk-rock pooch, a bit of Batman on a hoodie. Woof! (Trixie and Peanut, $42)

Anyone crafty can also take up the Project Runway challenge — there are tons of knitting and sewing patterns available for dogs of all sizes!
