my next knit: baby love

Like many knitters, I’m always thinking about the next project. This one is so cute I had to share. My dear friend Virginia just had a little girl, so my needles will now be devoted to the wee one. (Since V’s too sleep-deprived to even thinking about surfing right now, I can post this without fear of spoiling the surprise.)
The project? It’s got to be from Debbie Bliss, of course, my absolute favorite pattern-designer for kid’s gear. Now, I just need to decide between these two. The tiny tot will wear this in the fall, so I love the cable-knit hoodie. But the bear ears are delectable on the all-in-one. Any strong opinions out there? The knitting commences next week! – Beth J.

They are both adorable, but those bear ears are PRECIOUS! They could even be knitted pointier and become kitty ears, too!
How cute! Does the cable knit hoodie have buttons? If not, it would be hard to keep it on a squirming baby. The all in one will certainly stay on an active baby and be so cute when she’s bigger and wants to dress up her dolls in it.
I’ve made that cable-knit sweater. It turned out beautifully (the mother CRIED), but it took a long time. And in the recommended yarn—which enhanced its beauty—it was pretty spendy. But it was the first sweater I attempted, and the instructions were straightfoward and the results awesome. It’s just all those cables—they look amazing, but take quite awhile. It’s a fun knit, though.
I think I made the six or nine month size, to accomodate growth. The baby wore it often for an entire fall/winter (the sleeves rolled up nicely when she was a little too small for it). And it handwashed well.
I made the bear suit a few years ago, and it was great fun to knit and looked adorable on. Here’s some pictures:
