do we like… fruit-covered appliances?

There was an interesting home improvement idea in my in-box this morning, thanks to Daily Candy: A way to transform your kitchen with big bursts of color via fruit-printed vinyl sheets that stick to your appliances. Vincon, a French company, sells magnetic plastic sheets that stick onto fridges, dishwashers and laundry machines. The patterns range from the bold ones shown here, to foodie images like eggs and coffee beans. You simply unroll the sticky sheet, and put it on your appliance. The bad news? Its price — about $250 for the fridge one — and I couldn’t find anything with measurements on it. Since the site is European, it’s possible that the our hefty-wide fridges won’t fit their slim stick-ons. Plus, I love my LG beauty so much, it seems a shame to cover it. What do you think? Would you put a sticker like this on your appliances? — Angela M.

remarkably ugly.
I can’t imagine a space that would be improved by a decal like that.

Although I wouldn’t want that in my grown-up space, I think I would have loved to have that in my college years! So cute…and obnoxious at the same time.

I kind of like the strawberries, but I like pop. (I mean, as an artistic style.) I once bought one of our cats a bed shaped like a large strawberry, which he refused to have anything to do with. Oh well.

I definitely would not have it in my current home, with its eensy galley kitchen. And I think it’s way overpriced. If it were successful, competing products would come out and sell for about $75. $50, solid-color competing products could do really *well*.

It *could* look cute in a “witty” space with a lot of red Kitchen-Aid supplies.

I agree with Miranda–a kitchen would have to be incredibly stylized and well-designed to pull of what is essentially a glorified window sticker. In short, I think they’re a wee bit tacky.
