is wall-to-wall making a comeback?
(looks like angela adams wants it to!)

As you know we’re big fans of Angela Adams’ organically-designed rugs and prints. We flipped when we saw her fall/winter mailer that featured lush photos of new rug designs, especially the fern and palm prints. What is really intriguing us though, is that way the catalog is photographed. In most of the photographs (like the one above) the rugs are shown without a hint of floor beneath, almost like they’re wall-to-wall. We know Angela is a child of the ’70s like us, so we bet her fondness for rec-rooms and the Brady Bunch is showing. Though her largest size rug is 8 X 10, we love the way it looks flushed against the sliding glass doors. What do you think? Would you go for the wall-to-wall look in your home?

Wall to wall carpet (not as pretty as this though):
Have it. Hate it.
Even in my early 80′s brick Five-Four-and-a-door Georgian-type suburban home on a slab.
Yuck.
hayell no
that and wall paper! yuck!
booo to wall-to-wall! guhross!
Also have and hate. (only upstairs, thank God.) More hardwood please!!!
Not wall-to-wall, but I’d go for a bigger rug than my 5×8 that I currently have.
They actually make this rug look positive.. not bad! Because of the red and green in the outdoor scenery behind it.
What is wrong with you people! Wall to wall (the right kind) is the ultimate luxury!… No cold floor in the middle of the night, the perfect noise absorber. Perhaps a bit dated, but hey, what goes around comes around. Go Angela! If they create a wall-to-wall product I’m there!
I grew up with plush thick pile wall to wall carpet. After leaving my parents home, I rented apartments in Boston – all with hardwood floors. Now I have a home with wall to wall berber carpet.
Would I do wall to wall Adams? Most likely not. I get tired of patterns too quickly.
Do I prefer wall to wall over hardwood? No, I prefer wood or another smooth surface, polished concrete, tile, etc. I like having the ability to wash my floors. I also have bad allergies and carpeting seems to trap dirt/dust, which makes my allergies worse.
I prefer berber (high quality berber that takes traffic well) over the usual carpeting – no vacumm lines, better for my allergies, looks very nice, hides debris if you aren’t one to vacumm daily, and is comfortable for those who visit me with small children.
Great post!

never never never. i get the whole comfy thing, but you can really achieve that with a rug. i still have nightmares about the hotel i stayed at a few years ago in england that had wall-to-wall in the bathroom! *shudder*
[...] We always love getting a new Flor catalog, even if we’re not in the market for any modular rug squares; their styling techniques and photographs are so inspiring. The latest edition is no exception, including the company’s first foray into a whole new realm: Dots! Or rather, buttons as the pattern above is called. There’s more than meets the eye here: each of those circles is actually divided into four pieces that can lead all sorts of pattern possibilities. The photo on top is of another pattern that immediately appealed: camoflower. Another great new pattern is called House Pet, a multi-functional, durable square that comes in many bright colors. Just a couple of more reasons to reconsider wall-to-wall, we say. What if it’s temporary? [...]
