hot cat: williams-sonoma home

Have you seen the gorgeousness in the new Williams-Sonoma home catalog? A copy landed in our mailbox the other day and we had to stop and drool over its pages. Filled with rich, sophisticated furniture and accessories, its pieces have a chic American style that could mix easily in both modern and traditional rooms. Though we haven’t had the chance to see any of it in person yet (there is a store in Los Angeles) we hear it’s even more impressive in real life. While the prices may seem steep compared with other catalogs lines, the quality is supposedly top notch. Some of our picks from the new offerings include, top row, the beaded coasters in argyle and animal prints ($24 for four; great gift idea!), the faux zebra print Crosby stool ($1500). Bottom row, the dreamy mirrored bar ($2600) and the metal table lamp, shown here in natural brass ($395).

I have wanted that mirrored bar ever since they came out with it a couple of years ago. I mean desperately craved it. Do you think that there is anyway that I can work it into a ethnic home design?
The table lamp looks like a dead-ringer (in smaller size) of one of the French firm Jansen’s signature pieces from the 1950s/1960s, a marvelous floor lamp, which is made in silverplate by Coconut Company in NYC.
