on the shelves at target: toord boontje
(for Holidays ‘06)

Have you heard who about the latest designer to join those producing low-priced chicness at Target? None other than the design world’s darling, Tord Boontje. The same one whose cooper garland sells at Moss for $5400 or whose glassware is on backorder at unicahome ($72 for four). So whether you’re a fan of his work, or just looking for something hip and modern to get your home in the holiday mood, this is good news! The whole line is not all available just yet, but you can click here to see what’s there now. You’ll find the frosted hurricane candleholder, $15, as well as the acrylic metal candelabra, $30. The rest (including serving platters, bowls, paper napkins and garlands) will be coming soon! Keep checking back.

I saw Wee Wonderful had a paper-cut garland from target by him. I have been majority itching to get myself to target to get his stuff.

I visited two Targets in the past two days and have now seen a fair amount of the collection. I love pretty much everything — but must say, the LED lights were a bit of a disappointment. They aren’t boxed, so they get handled a lot (dirty, not in the best condition). I think they should have put those in proper boxes to better protect them (especially the large white ones).
The paper garlands are very cute, and the window clings (decals) are a bargain at $5.99. I also couldn’t resist the tablecloth.
Tip: Check out ALL the aisles of your local Target. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency when it comes to where they place the Tord Boontje merchandise. And they are sometimes in several locations in the store.
