for the love of ziploc bags

Traveling today? Well ya better have some Ziploc bags handy. Seems the FAA has finally learned what we have known for years: When it comes to packing essentials for the flight, nothing does it better than a Ziploc storage bag. Once I was traveling with a dear friend who was the Beauty Director of a national fashion magazine. I’ll never forget watching her unpack at the hotel, removing one Ziploc bag after another filled with must-haves. Forget all those designer makeup bags! This is the way to go. And Chad, a professional photographer, always puts his film in Ziplocs to be inspected by hand rather than going through the xrays. Allison R. and I taking a journey together on Friday, and you can bet we’ll be armed. Here’s the message we got from our airline yesterday:
Travel-size toiletries (3.4 ounces or less) must fit comfortably within one, quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag. Empty containers are prohibited. The plastic bag containing liquids must be removed from carry-on luggage before passing through security checkpoints and must be screened separately. After clearing security, you may purchase beverages and other items in the secure boarding area to bring onboard.

The Atlanta airport is giving out ziploc bags to people who may have forgotten them. Considering how the Philly airport made me throw away my [Chanel] mascara about a month ago, I thought this was relatively decent of them. I know I would have been “thankful”. (Ba dum bump)

I was just thinking this when I got back from traveling. I needed two Ziplock bags for liquids that might spill, so I bought a whole box. When I was packing, I found so many uses for them – Ziplocks for make-up, shoes that may dirty, lotions that may spill, cotton balls, etc. They’re easy to pack and don’t take up room, and they protect the contents really well. Next time, for items that will probably spill (like Neutrogena toner), I would probably double-bag.

I have been doing this for years. Great and water proof. I use it when carring my book bag while traveling too. saved me when I got caught in a rain storm or when i was walking in a river.
