room porn: the gramercy park hotel

shelter_gramercy.jpg

We haven’t had a chance to take a look inside Ian Schrager’s latest re-creation, the Gramercy Park Hotel, but its website offers a glimpse of the rooms and suites that has us fantasizing about a romantic getaway in our own city. Unlike his other mod hotels (such as the Royalton or Miami’s Delano), The Gramercy is not the least bit modern, but rather warm and decadent. Indeed, its hand-tufted pieces and velvety fabrics (love the bed throw!) look more like something you’d find in Paris than downtown New York. Prices start at about $450 and go all the way up to $2750 for a one-bedroom suite. Rooms are still available for February 14th. Hmmmm.

I love Gramercy Park. I am still laughing at “Room Porn”!

Oh my! I visited the site of Gramercy Park. Honestly, I would not stay there if they paid me to do so. As you called it, it is “room porn” — of the most tasteless kind. I will not give more than 10-15 years, and this decade of ours will be chalked up as parallel to (or worse than) the “kitschy 60′s”. :)))

this room shot looks straight out of one of those design encyclopedias from the 60′s !
