new (old looking) finds at conran usa

Though they are a collection of common household items around the globe, most of the things in Conran’s new everyday line remind us of things we used to find in our grandmas’ houses. Like this lemon squeezer with jug, $29; the metal ice cube tray, $15, which is far better than all those fancy sllicone ones, and this adorable cow glass butter dish, $6.50. Check out all of Conran’s new everyday line here.

I’m as big a fan as anyone of old things, but I don’t understand the resurgence of the metal ice cube trays. I remember when that’s all we had, and what a pain it was to get the d*** ice cubes out. Twisting a plastic tray (I haven’t tried silicone) is easier by 1000%.
I haven’t been to one in ages, but the large lobby shops attached to most Cracker Barrel restaurants sell tons of stuff like this. Not so much the ice cube trays as things like the juicer and butter dish. Not on most people’s agenda if you live in a city, but you might come across one on a road trip – there seems to be one at most major exits off of most major interstates….
Williams-Sonoma sometimes has this sort of thing, too.
