help! i’m looking for a modern hat rack

Can you help me find a nifty/stylish hat rack for my panama and fedora hats? Wall mounted is probably ideal, but standing is classic and could easily fit into my decor. Modern preferred. — Zachary

Hi Zachary — here are a few suggestions. We stayed away from anything too trendy (like antler racks) because your fedoras sound stylish enough to hold their own.

Eames’ Hold It All, $153, at MoMa. A little bit of mod whimsy from 1953.

Bludot 3d coat rack, $55, is colorful and simple.

4-hook Bali Rack from the Container Store, $25. Doesn’t get more simple than this.

Pella coat rack by Karim Rashid, $220. This is our favorite standing rack, so elegant.

Logga hat rack from Ikea, $30. It is the only one this page that is actually called “hat rack.”

Lungaro Train Rack from Restoration Hardware, $319, is along those same lines, but the real deal. Solid brass, plated in your choice of finish.

Did we miss any? Let us know if you have hat rack suggestions for Zachary.

after much debate on this, i bought the TJUSIG (Rack with 5 hooks) from ikea because the version with the shelf above was too wide for the space i wanted to mount it.

i really like the three by three products and they offer a couple hook options. i bought their 3 wall hook from urban outfitters on sale for $12!

Gee, I didn’t realize antlers were trendy! I’ve got a great old hat hanger in the hall way made out of antlers (an inherited piece, by the way…). The antlers were treated so the points didn’t damage the hats, and it’s an interesting look. I think the images above might be better for caps than fedoras, but I’m not a decorator.

This is kinda weird, but you know where I got a great hat rack? At an office warehouse outlet. They carried a lot of furniture that was sold from offices that had redecorated or were going out of business. I got a really heavy-duty steel number from the 60s. See if you can find a place like that in your area. It was cheap, too! (I bought it many years ago in Cincinnati, so I can’t recommend an exact place.)
