At an office warehouse outlet. They carried a lot of furniture that was sold from offices that had redecorated or were going out of business. I got a really heavy-duty steel number from the 60s. See if you can find a place like that in your area. It was cheap, too! (I bought it many years ago in Cincinnati, so I can't recommend an exact place.) I've got a great old hat hanger in the hall way made out of antlers (an inherited piece, by the way...). The antlers were treated so the points didn't damage the hats, and it's an interesting look.
