new obsession: wooden hand mirrors

Last weekend I wandered into the John Derian store in the East Village and walked out with a new thing to be on the hunt for: vintage, wooden hand mirrors. John Derian had a pile of them on a table — the whole store feels like a perfectly edited, presented flea market — for $50 each. Then, on Monday, a new Pottery Barn catalog arrived and I saw this photo of a bedroom decorated with a collection of them. I did a quick search on eBay and found this beveled one for only $12, but something tells me it might take a while before I amass a collection. I don’t think I’d put them over the bed like PB, but perhaps down a hallway, or over a dresser. What’s your collection obsession right now? — Angela M.

Love this idea! What would be the best way to mount them without having to drill a hole in them?
The hand mirrors are terrific, an amazing idea. Rarely see them tho, so a collection would be tough.
Kim – super duper double stick tape or velcro would be a great way to hang the mirrors
as for present obsessions angela…chalkware….cute, kitchy, fun chalkware. I love it madly and it looks awesome in our sunroom.
Wow–I saw this idea in like 1990 in my mother’s Better Homes and Gardens mag. They had them in a bathroom. I am ashamed I remember that.
if you want another NYC example of this in action, check out the upstairs bar at the stanton social. they have a bunch of hand mirrors lining the walls.
