new obsession: unazukin dolls

The other day, I was clicking around Firebox.com and found these adorable little creatures, Unazukin dolls. It was one of those moments when I suddenly feel like I’ve been living under a rock, like there’s this whole new RAGE brewing and I’m one of the last to discover what the excitement is all about. Unazukin are little dolls that either nod “yes” or “no” when you ask them a question. Like most insanely cute things, they originate from Japan. There’s a devoted fan-base growing worldwide, collecting the special editions that get released every so often. Best of all, they’re extremely photogenic, as a quick Flickr search shows. This lovely scene is by Reuben Turner from Cheltenham, UK. As a Libra who often spends too much time weighing decisions, I think one of these will be a welcome desktop accessory. Order one now from firebox.com for $9. — Angela M.

Have you guys seen the Sunshine People? They’re similar - solar powered, and they nod, but they usually sit on a base. I think they’re made by the same company and the doll-like ones are a newer variation on them. I think they’re sold in toy departments in the US, but jbox.com has a ton of designs that aren’t normally sold here, like the “manekineko” or lucky cat.
