help! i’m looking for a large leaning mirror
I’m moving into a new apartment with a long hallway. I’d like to find a really big, modern mirror to prop at one side. I love the ones at DWR, but they’re so expensive. Any other suggestions? — Andrea

You must be referring to the lovely Bellato mirror, $1300. It is huge — nearly seven feet tall — and has a crisp aluminum frame. No getting around it, this mirror is sexy. Another DWR option, the Atlanta mirror is nearly as nice. It’s just a tad smaller, and half the price. Uk-based Gramham & Green has this retangular one for about $200. It’s not as tall as the DWR ones, but its antique brass edge frame is a nice detail. The Hemnes mirror from Ikea is more narrow, but cheap, $99. CB2’s linea floor mirror is big, but you may not like its white frame. Check it out, for $300. Got any other mirror suggestions for Andrea? Let us know!

How far are you from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky? The DWR Warehouse Sale usually has those mirrors. However, even the discounted price might still be more than you want to pay (might still be in the $1,000 range). http://dwr.com/dwrsale

IKEA has a nice one with a dark wood frame. I think it’s $150.

Home Goods! They have 2-3 aisles of just mirrors and many of them are of the big & leaning variety. I am such a dork for Home Goods.

Bellacor has a TON of options! I just bought a 7 foot by 4 foot mirror on wheels to prop up in my bedroom!

I was just at Ikea 2 weeks ago with a friend and they had a giant leaning mirror for $99. (or was it $199?). wow. I’ve also been eyeing the DWR ones, but this one was at *least* 75% as nice…

I have the Ikea mirror, bought it after a long search. It is almost 7 feet and was indeed $99. I love it and it does not look Ikea-ish, people always comment when they come over and can’t believe how inexpensive it was. I treat it pretty nicely, leans against the wall in the same spot, not sure how it would be to hang. but it really adds depth to my narrow living room. It has a very narrow metal frame. I don’t see it on the site now, but I found it in Paramus store, which tends to be less picked over than LI or Eliz.

There are two at ZGallerie: the Valentino (http://www.zgallerie.com/shop/viewsrch.asp?sku=074174601&searchfor=mirrors&cat=&Listabsolutepage=2) for $295 and the Leaning Borghese (http://www.zgallerie.com/shop/viewsrch.asp?sku=014458980&searchfor=mirrors&cat=&Listabsolutepage=2) for $695. These are still pricey, but at least they are options.
