mail order delight: my favorite memphis bbq

In my hometown of Memphis, Tenn., there’s no better way to spark up a lively, and most likely heated, conversation with a local than asking her which restaurant has best barbecue. Everyone’s got a favorite. Some swear by Corky’s, while others won’t eat anywhere but Neely’s. My personal favorite is the Rendezvous, a downtown institution famous for its dry pork ribs and saucy waiters. Luckily, thanks to the power of FedEx, my favorite food is merely a day and a credit card swipe away. About $250 buys me and 15 friends eight slabs of that tender pork. If I’m feeling especially adventurous, I can order the restaurant’s sauce or famous dry rub and try it out on the grill myslef at the next cookout. It’s the best barbecue you’ll ever eat, and you don’t have to just take my word for it. — Ashley P.

Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm. I know what you’re talking about. I live about an hour from Memphis. My personal favorite for a BBQ sandwich is Corky’s, but the Rendezvous has the best ribs. :)

I live in Memphis also and I my favorite is Central BBQ or the BBQ Shop on Madison. Cozy Corner is great as well. YUMMM

There’s an authentic Memphis BBQ restaurant in Sacramento, CA also. It’s called -Memphis BBQ- and it made a believer out of me. Unbelievably good! They also had the dry rub, sauce on the side, and many other styles with deep pits.

Well lucky you! I live in CT and I have to fend for myself!

I like the dry rubs and try to emulate some recipes I have collected over the years. I believe the big shots all leave out important ingredients as it never tastes the same.

Not too bad though! I’m getting fairly good at it, and I have now mastered the grill and don’t run away anymore when it flares up like it will explode.

Anyway, nice site and good reading. Thanks for being here.
