strangely appealing: bird feet trinket

I think I’m developing a love hate relationship with bird themed home accessories. Good: baby mobiles. Bone china figurines. Debatable: Ostrich table. Bad? these bird feet from Show. Normally I adore everything offered on this Los Angeles-based store’s site, but these remind me of street food in Chinatown. This little pair (only two and half inches high) has no real purpose. I suppose you could put them on a windowsill or something — maybe a paperweight? I don’t know. Can you imagine getting them as a gift? “Oh look!…. Bird feet?” — Angela M.

Aww….for a second there I thought it was a new graphite sculpture from Angelio Batle. He makes these beautiful graphite sculptures that are representations of natural objects (like shells) that you can actually write with. I think they’re pretty cool (and they serve an actual purpose!). These bird feet, however, are pretty creepy.

I’m both drawn to and repulsed by these. I think it’s because my mother loved to eat chicken feet even though they completely grossed me out! Now I’m feeling a bit of nostalgia/disgust.

I love them, but then I’m still regretting not buying a silver coated monkey skull when I had the chance 18 years ago.

I was given these as a Christmas present, and I was delighted to get them. I am, however, seriously twisted…

Ha! I love ‘em! I have many weirdo relatives and friends, so these will suit just fine! : )

I also bought these as a Christmas gift for my sister, with a little glass display dome to put over them. It takes a certain kind of personality to appreciate them, but she has it.
