erica’s kitchen counter — red wins!

A few weeks ago, Erica asked What color should I paint my kitchen counter? Here’s the result!

I went with red. I toyed with several ideas but eventually stuck to my gut and decided this counter top was destined to be shiny, fire engine red! After some sanding and two coats of primer, I rolled on my first coat of paint. Then, I panicked. Is it too bright? Is it not bright enough? Does it look good with the other colors in my kitchen? With definite knots in my stomach, I committed to a second coat, and even a third, (trust me, it was necessary.) I finished it off with a shiny lacquer. (Note to readers: don’t plan on sleeping in the same apartment as a newly lacquered piece of furniture — it is oh so stinky!) I stepped back and realized my color-qualms were unfounded. IT’S PERFECT! Now, if only I had some stools to slide up under it…any suggestions? — Erica P.
