strangely appealing: “hand” soap

I have mixed feelings about soaps that come in shapes. They may look cute in a guest bathroom unused (you know, ’cause we have soooo many guest bathrooms) but once they’ve gone a few rounds under the faucet they start to look like misshaped blobs. I can’t quite imagine how grim hand soap from Foliage would look after they’ve been worn down. But they do appeal to my sense of the macabre and might work in the upstate house. Only $12 for a bundle of ten, so they’d be easy enough to replace when the fingers started disappearing. They’re made from goat’s milk and vegetable glycerin and have a light scent. What do you think? Would you get creeped out by finding these in a friend’s bathroom? — Angela M.

This scares me a lot, can you imagine when it starts to melt and you have knub fingers….I think it might be especially scary.

Nooooo - I would run screaming from the bathroom (with unwashed hands).

I’m charmed by them, they’re little soap sculptures!

Strange…these are growing on me. But I was pretty creeped out initially, so maybe that would be the first response of most guests. Seeing them grouped together is cool. I think if they were put out individually (or worse, in pairs!) the effect would be much more disturbing.
