Great ideas and TERRIFIC links to different vendors. Thanks so much I have so many options now I am not sure which to choose. With so many ideas but nothing exactly what I wanted I may resort to making my own hand-painted paper and covering with clear contact paper – so thank for that idea too!

BACK IN 1966, WE HAD AN OLD VW BUS. IT HAD A LOT OF HOLES, YES, HOLES IN IT AND WE USED MANY ROLLS OF THE BRAND NAME “CONTACT PAPER” TO COVER IT UP, EVEN THE SIDE LEUVERS! THE PAPER, (IT WAS PLASTIC WITH A PULL OFF PAPER BACKING), WAS “HIPPY” LOOKING, BLUE AND GREEN FLOWERS WITH A LITTLE WHITE. PEOPLE USED TO WALK UP, TOUCH IT, WITH US INSIDE, THEN ASKED US HOW WE PAINTED ALL THOSE FLOWERS ON IT AND HOW LONG IT TOOK US TO DO IT. WE HAD A LOT OF FUN WITH IT!

I think Interior Place http://www.interiorplace.com/Contact-Paper-Self-Adhesive-shelf-liners.html has a biggest selection of contact paper on the web. You can find even designer patterns from Leslie Beck and Cheri Blum on that site. Wood shelf liners could also work great for closet shelves.

don’t forget K-Mart – Martha has some nice contact papers in simple designs including stripes in Martha green and faux bois.

I love the idea of using fun wrapping paper – but if you want the “wipability” (yes, I think I just made up a word) of contact paper, you can cover the wrapping paper with clear contact paper. That would do an infinitely better job of holding the paper down than tape would, for that matter.

I used brown kraft paper in my closet. I used silly sesame street wrapping paper in my Fiance’s dresser. It makes him laugh. :)
