worth the splurge: alessi's salad set

Just this weekend I was thinking about serving salads. I was using a well-loved, 1950’s plastic bowl passed down from Grandma and wondering how I could, spice things up, so to speak. Then I spotted this lovely Programma 8 Set For Salad and fell in love. It’s not a new design — in fact, it was made in 1975 by Franco Sargiani and Eija Helender, but its look is both timeless, and modern. It comes with a stainless steel tray, a condiment set, salad bowl and serving utensils — all which fit perfectly together, or could be used solo when needed. It’s new at HiveModern, for $334, and definitely something worth passing down (not that I mind my plastic bowl). Would also make a great wedding gift (er… hint?). (via Outblush) — Angela M.
