strangely appealing: fancy plastic furniture

We are pretty happy with our plastic Ikea Urban dining chairs — after all, they’re colorful and indestructible. The same came be said of the Plastic-Fantastic series from Studio JSPR. We spotted them on Style Hive and had to look closer. The classically-shaped pieces are actually covered in a thick layer of RealSkin rubber and are made to resist all kinds of weather conditions. Now this is garden furniture we can get behind! Unfortunately, we couldn’t find the prices anywhere on the site, but since they’re based in Antwerp, we’re guessing they’re a little out of our range. Alas. What about you? If price were no object, would you put some Plastic Fantastic furniture on your patio?

I remember seeing these on AT. I think the chair was like $1900. Ouch. Besides, if it’s rubber I’m just gonna wanna scratch my nails in it. Kinda like chippy paint…I have to keep peeling at it.

I do not like this furniture , they look ugly ,it is the classic look , if they were urban then there will be no problem , they look so childish

you can find the prices online at retromodern.com, i have actually seen these in person and the rubber is suprisingly fabric like when you touch it, it has a matte finish so it does not feel like you would adhere to the seat if you sat on it in on a hot day. I am a total sucker for this line and am anxiously awaiting the delivery of two of the sconces in yellow!

I like the Louis Ghost chairs a lot more, and Bubble Club (though I’ve seen a very broken Bubble Club sofa at a DWR warehouse sale– apparently they do crack if abused the right way).
