ikea sofa makes it home

shelter_cottagecouch.jpg

You may recall a few weeks ago we had a big debate about whether to buy Ikea’s Ektorp sleeper sofa or Crate & Barrel’s more expensive Bayside. Well, based on your recommendations (and a tight budget) we opted for the Ikea model with a Redeby light beige cover. We’re starting with a completely clean palette in this room — everything’s freshly painted white after we took out some faux beams from the ceiling and bookshelves by the fireplace. The sofa looks a little lonely in there right now, but we want to be more selective about the rest of the pieces that will join it. Thanks so much for your advice, and we’ll let you know how our first guests fare after spending the night on it! — Angela M.

You have a beautiful blank space to start with. I envy your possibilities.

The floors are gorgeous - so much character! And super shiny.

We’re thinking about buying this sofa (after drooling over a much more expensive version at Pottery Barn). Can you tell me if it’s comfortable? Thanks!
