My house has been in the paper three times because of my use of pink. Like you, I have an original 1950's pink&cranberry combination tile on my vanity top and in my shower. I loved it! I decided to pull it all together by changing a few minor things. I used white hex tile with rasberry dots and pink grout on the floor. I put a cranberry and white striped swag shower curtain on. I put an antique window on the wall with cornices above that ,the shower and the door way. I placed vintage items on them. I had a victorian type border of different budoir scenes placed around the ceiling. I painted the vanity light pink and white. Since I wasn't LUCKY enough to have your pink toilet and sink(which I'm looking for). I put a light pink toilet seat on in the shape of a rose. I put a new light fixture up that has a bouquet of roses in the center. It was all grey before so I took a sponge and dabbed the roses pink. I am having a painting done for the antique window. Cranberry roses that drape over the frame inside will look like they are coming in from the outside. Appreciate what you've got. " A diamond in the rough". It could be so darling if you used your imagination. It didn't cost much at all. You can sell your toilet and sink and buy what you want. However, I would try to keep most of your bathroom original. They are so much more full of charachter than what you see today. I can honestly say that my bathrooms are my favorite rooms in the house. Plus, both of them have been in the paper. Have fun with it. I SURE DID! Ginny

Do you think the white and pink tile I removed from my bathroom would sell? If so, what would it be worth? See photos at http://lynchburg.craigslist.org/for/1025429562.html (general for sale)

I really would like to have some pick tile. I'm making my small bath retro and someone took out the tile around the sink. If anyone has some old pink tile (also maybe floor tile, to sell, please let me know. Thanks so much.

This post and others recently encouraged me to start a new blog -- http://SaveThePinkBathrooms.com -- all about, yes -- vintage pink bathrooms. They are treasures.

I'll have to echo Deb's comment above--please reconsider the pink! We have an original 1955 bathroom in our home that has pink and brown tile. The brown is more terra cotta than chocolate. We have kept it 100% original. Most of our friends are architects and interior designers and they all seem to dig it. That said, I realize not everyone likes the 1950s retro look. Please don't refinish the fixtures, instead consider selling them on Craigslist, or donating to your local green building supply, like reStore. Good luck.
