great gift idea: penzeys spice box

shelter_spicebox.jpg

You always hear stories about unfortunate wedding gifts — things that live in your basement forever in the boxes they came in. Our wedding was small and filled with only with those who know us well, so that wasn’t the case with us. But of all our gifts, this one was perhaps the happiest surprise (though Chad is beyond-smitten with the Garmin GPS): a twelve jar spice kit from Penzeys. ( With the kitchen in our new house begging to broken in, our shelves were hopelessly bare until this package arrived. It’s filled with the basics you need most often, but of the finest quality like California Basil, China Ground Cinnamon and Turkish Oregano. There are also a few blends that I can’t wait to try — like Country French Vinaigrette and Jerk Chicken. I can’t think of a better house warming gift for the new homeowners in your life. A Penzey’s box was one of our favorite wedding gifts, too!

We got one of these for our wedding and it was one our favorites. It gave us a chance to try out some of Penzey’s mixed spices that we otherwise wouldn’t have. Hope you enjoy it!

I looooove Penzeys. I’ve been giving gift boxes of their spices as Christmas gifts for a few years and they’re always really well-received.

I asked about the house upstate with the grave yard yesterday.
I decided after your post that the best thing to do was go into contract on halloween…That way the spirts will know I’m their side…I am only half kidding. Thank you so much for your comments.

A favorite wedding gift for us, too. Penzey’s started out here in Minneapolis!

This would have been a much appreciated wedding gift for us, too–20 years ago! Now I’ve collected spices from all over the world as I’ve traveled. Another really great gift—housewarming or wedding—is a gift box I found on http://www.redlanternstyle.com that has gourmet sauces and bowls in a beautiful silk box that you can reuse.
