gift giving guide: allison's wish list

Our longtime contributor Allison Reynolds — and style editor extraordinaire — spent a day dreaming about her wish list. Here’s what she’s fantasizing about finding under the tree this year.

A Donna Cole pet painting. I want a portrait of Owen Meany.

Allison: what a great wish list. I second everything on it. And I was so pleasantly surprised to see you included a Donna Cole portrait. I love her work. She’s on of the only pet painters I think really gets it right–as art, not an ersatz rendering, if that makes any sense. Wouldn’t it be great, too, to get one of those stoves! Just sitting under the tree…

Allison,
Oh my Lord with caramel sauce! Those picks are so eclectic and special. I love the notion of owning opera glasses and a stove as elegant as Lady Di. Please keep posting round ups, as these gifts have more meaning than many I see in magazines. In this age of rampant luxury consumerism, your selection is thoughtful, beautiful and utilitarian.
Bravo sweet Santa!

[…] Personally, we’re much more inclined towards the Katai coat rack that Allison R. put in her gift guide. At only $1500 — that seems like a bargain next to this! […]

I am thrilled every time I hear such wonderful things about my fathers work, any chance you would do a story??
