strangely appealing: scallion coat rack

We spotted this odd piece of furniture last week at Casa Sugar and have been trying to picture the home it would belong in ever since. It’s a Scallion Coat Rack by David N. Ebner. It’s made of carved ash wood, and stands nearly five foot tall. $7,000 at The Artful Home. Where would it fit in? Must be a kitchen, or very close to, but how would it look with coats on it? Perhaps a collection of aprons could hang from it, for the truly eccentric homemaker. We can also imagine it as a prop from the film After Hours. So ’80s! Personally, we’re much more inclined towards the Katai coat rack that Allison R. put in her gift guide. At only $1500 — that seems like a bargain next to this!

Pee-wee Herman’s house? Woody Allen’s in Sleeper?
If I had a storefront for my shop, this would totally be by the door for guests to hang their coats. Then again, my shop is the aesthetic onion. This is quite literally an aesthetic onion.
