want it now: kartell fl/y suspension lamp

We need to replace the hideous faux-patina dining room chandelier that came with our house, and we’ve gone a little ga-ga over the Kartell FL/Y Suspension Lamp after seeing it at a friend’s house — and then seeing how many colors were available. It pains me a little to think about paying almost $300 for a light, but trust me, we just couldn’t find anything we liked this much at Ikea this tme, no matter how hard we tried. — Mary T.

I love that light too. Someday I’m going to have a similar issue where I try to decide between one of those and a Poul Henningsen light. You can get vintage Henningsen lights in some great colors. My favorite of the Kartell light is the orange. It’s very intensely colored and makes a real statement.

Uh-oh, Cherlyn — now that we’ve moved away from the sale, I may have to press you guys into service for me!

Well, I just found out.
The sale is the first weekend in March.
Just in case you’re in the neighborhood.

I have one over my dinning table and I LOVE it. I ended up choosing the white one because a colored one would cast a colored hue over dinner - not very appealing.
