want it now: vintage wallpaper

Ever since I saw the flowered metallic wallpaper in the bathroom of an older friend of mine (the paper has no doubt been in her bath since the ’70s), I’ve been dying to find some vintage metallic paper to dress up one of our rooms — maybe just one wall in the bedroom, or the “TV nook” in our basement; nothing that’s too big of a commitment. Finding paper that both my husband and I can agree on is, however, more challenging. He wants nothing to do with flowers (even ironic flowers) and is on the fence about metallics. But we have found some good, not-too-expensive sources online. One is Hannah’s Treasures, with metallic florals in stock currently! Others include Vintage Walls and Design Your Wall, both selling quite a few rolls of funky, vintage vinyl and mylar paper. U TURN Vintage Wallpaper has the swankest offerings, however — every page of their eBay store is a 1970s flashback. And I mean that as a compliment. — Mary T.
