new york gift fair: kitchen kitsch from alessi

One of my favorite finds at the New York International Gift Fair was designer Stefano Giovannoni’s new collection of kitschy Asian-inspired household objects for Alessi. The designer’s ongoing collaboration with the National Palace Museum in Taiwan began last year with the launch of pieces like the adorable Mr. Chin kitchen timer, $49.90. I love that everything is made in a high-low mix of hand-decorated plastic and fine bone china. New additions — available in April — include the Lily Pond Sushi Set, $94, and Banana Bros salt and pepper shakers, $36. View the entire spring/summer 2008 collection at alessi.com –Ingrid S.
