meg’s green finds: plover organic bedding

Spring is just around the corner and I’m itching to revamp my bedroom with a fresh and sunny vibe befitting warmer weather. You too? Here’s a pop quiz: Wanna buy two new duvet covers for the price of one? Can’t decide whether you’d rather sleep below floral or geometric bedding? Wanna rest your head on organic linens? If the answer is yes to any or all of these questions, it’s time for you to check out the newly launched Plover Organic bedding line. Not only are the duvet covers 100% organic and reversible (hence, 2-for-1), they’re also available in an array of super cute prints (think Dwell meets Shabby Chic)! Duvets available at VivaTerra for $249. –Meg D.

Okay, I’m all for organic, I love good design, but to be honest, the word recession has now become part of my language at least! $249 is too much money! It is this type of pricing that I fear will make some organics out of reach of the basic consumer. What young graduate student, couple in middle class is going to go for this? If organic whatever is truly going to be part of everyday life a $250 duvet cover isn’t going to cut it.

The duvet cover is okay what I really like is the bed!

I love the bed too! I think I may have it copied for my bed in the new home I am buying unless anyone has any ideas about where I could find one like it.

Patty, I agree–I’d love to have nice sheets made of bamboo, but that’s just not going to happen unless they come down in price significantly. I’d rather by organic food than organic bedding, unless I find it at a really good price.

I agree also–Plover bedding is lovely, I’ve seen it in several magazines and blogs, but it’s out of my price range. Besides, I have plenty of bedding, and it’s not very “green” to discard the perfectly good bedding I already possess to get new organic linens! I’d never give up my lovely flannel Garnet Hill sheets for the colder months, anyway.
