five things we learned last week
Bright ideas we gathered from your comments.

1. Pink can be right or wrong, but it’s everywhere. We shared some links about pink rooms last week. Becky says, “Pink is tricky — I went WAY wrong in my guest room with an institutional pink, then Pepto pink, then finally hit the right shade in between. It took awhile to get it right!” She also shares links to other fun pink rooms — see the original post to learn more.
2. Lots of you save the good china for special occasions. Kim’s response was typical: “We have some Ralph Lauren china. I love it. It makes me happy when I see it. But we’ve been married close to two years now, and I’ve used it once. And that’s OK by me. I like knowing it’s there, knowing I have something special that gets pulled out for those extra special occasions.” Do you use your good china? Join the conversation.
3. Best cookie recipe? Opinions vary. Melissa H. commented on our infamous cookie post, “This recipe from Allrecipes.com is the best chocolate chip cookie out there. Give this one a try before you vote Tollhouse the best!” Check all the chocolate chip cookie opinions here.
4. Garage doors are great for regular rooms — and in them. A lot of you liked our post on using garage doors as French doors, and one of you already has, sort of. Splatgirl says, “One of my great dreams is to live in a climate where service station doors can stand in for sliders. Sadly, Minnesota is not it, so I compromised.” See how she used a garage door as an interior room divider. And see the original post here.
5. Organic is good. Pricey is not. Patty read our post on organic linens and commented, “I’m all for organic, I love good design, but to be honest, the word recession has now become part of my language at least! $249 is too much money! It is this type of pricing that I fear will make some organics out of reach of the basic consumer.” Meanwhile, N. & J. says, “The duvet cover is okay. What I really like is the bed!” See what they’re discussing here.
