five things we learned last week

Bright ideas we gathered from your comments.
1. Here’s one good reason to have a TV and other electronics in your bedroom. Michele shares this alarming story: “My husband accidentally locked me in our bedroom for seven hours. From there on out I’ve kept my cell phone in our bedroom. I was also glad there was a TV in there, so I wasn’t too bored.” Wow! Gotta admit, we never thought of that one.
2. You dislike cleaning the house as much as we do. Gardening, dog-walking, and dog poop cleanup were all mentioned as tasks that you outsource, but house cleaning seemed to be the winner as far as everyday tasks you’ll happily pay others to do. As Leah says, “I’ll eat ramen noodles for every meal before I’ll give up my house cleaner! I HATE to clean. Those two visits a month keep everyone sane and happy at our house.” So what do you outsource?
3. If you live in Long Beach, you can see Union 18’s rugs up close. Meg of Union 18 says, “As of 4/1 our rugs are being displayed at Sasha’s Interior Design at 3237 East Broadway, Long Beach, Ca!” See the post here.
4. A reader has found us a cool, comfortable rocker — on sale. Regular commenter Pencils says, “I just bought a Sleepytime Rocker from Nurseryworks. Certain fabrics and colors are 50% off right now. It’s remarkably comfortable. And it’s a chair that I won’t be embarrassed to have in my living room.” Check out our thoughts on DwellStudio for Target and other baby furniture.
5. The extremely cool eiCrate dog crate can now be purchased online — and it’s a whole lot cheaper! Remember the eiCrate dog crate? Holly has alerted us that Go! Pet Design is now selling the high-design dog crate online. Still only for dogs up to 40 pounds, but at a much lower price — $320 plus tax and shipping (compared to $680 originally). And check out the puppy on the home page; we are dying of cuteness.
