family recipe contest at cook’s country

Here’s a contest that I can’t wait to see the results of: America’s Best Lost Suppers from Cook’s Country. They’re asking us to look into our mother’s and grandmother’s recipe boxes and submit our favorite family suppers. I have a recipe book put together by a great aunt that I may use for my entry. It has all kinds of hearty Sicilian dishes in it, like braciole (beef rolls) and escarole & beans. I wonder if desserts can be submitted? Then I might send in my Aunt Jean’s pizzelle cookie recipe — one I’m dying to make myself, but first I must buy a waffle pan. According to foodblogga they have a history that dates back to 700 BC, though I can only trace ours back to the 1920s. Click here to see more mouth-watering photos and read her wonderful account of her family’s pizzelle tradition.

What family recipe do you cherish? Gather them up and submit it to America’s Best Lost Suppers by September. — Angela M.
