blogwatch: where we’ve been clicking this week

sfgirlbybay takes a visit to The Parker Hotel in Palm Springs (Formerly Gene Autry’s ranch!) and suffice to say, we are envious.
Poppytalk visits the studio space of Baily Doesn’t Bark (ceramics worth admiring) and the work space decor is a bit industrial and yet strangely inspiring.
Got a little moustache problem? This fine Moustache Fetishism necklace by Melanie Favreau (via swissmiss) is sure to make it even worse.
Those scented fabric sheets and air fresheners could be toxic, according to a University of Washington study. Great; more to worry about.
Wild parsnip: resembles Queen Anne’s Lace, can cause severe sunburns (even blindness from the sap) if you touch it. Learn more (including what the plant looks like) here. (Sorry for all the dire links; this one seemed very worth sharing.)
Might just be us, but this stoop sale sounds like a lot more fun than a yard sale.
Apartment Therapy asks, “Is the Furminator worth it?” Signs point to yes. (Bonus: very cute dog photo. That should help our mood!)

I think the Furminator would be great for my 3 cats, 1 dog fur filled house. However, not very green: one suggestion on a blog that was encouraging “1 garbage can per month” (can’t remember the site!) was eliminating the tape fur removers and using a fabric lint removed. Not sure if those work as well, but I’m getting ultra-hyper sensitive about creating more trash these days!

Wow, sunburns?? That’s crazy! Learn something everyday! Great list!

Hey j, you could do what I do: just let the fur fly! (That’s when it helps to have a yard.) Is dog and cat fur compostable? I know hair takes a long time to break down.

PS Rachel, I just updated the post; forgot it can get even worse than that. Oy. (Off to look at the moustache necklace again to cheer myself up…)

The Furminator is definitely worth the money. The amount of fluff that comes off my Maine Coon cat is ridiculous. She doesn’t like the Furminator very much, and will only tolerate it for short periods when she’s in a good mood. But as long as we keep at it, her shedding is greatly reduced and she doesn’t get hairballs.

the furminator is the best invention since the wheel and the bra.
