strangely appealing: honeycomb lamp

Anyone who’s been to a wedding shower since the early 1970s has seen tissue paper honeycomb decorations like this one. As someone with five older sisters, I’ve been to more than my share, so I had a pretty strong reaction to the Honeycomb Lamp by Kouichi Okamoto — kind of a mixture of laughter and fear! It even arrives folded down, just like the wedding bells do! It’s not very pricey, but then again, you have to supply your own cord and lightbulb. Check out how Design Boom handled it for some great ideas. Maybe it’s starting to grow on me. $52 at Fluke. –Mary T.

Do you think this can be used with a plain suspended lightbulb? Or would the paper catch fire? I’m guessing it would definitely be a fire hazard.
j, the lamp is designed with a hole for e a corded light (you can see more photos on the Fluke site), so I don’t believe it would be any more of a hazard than using a regular paper lantern. No doubt there are instructions included on the size and wattage of light that is safe to use.
