If it was a long term issue, then I'd be more worried about it ... there's no way I could give up tea for ever.

But for a short spell like this? I think caffeine tablets are the way to go.

[...] 3. Tea drinkers are right to be concerned about teeth stains, though there are alternatives. PlantingOaks says: “You might try yerba mate. I’ve never tried it before, but it is supposedly a light colored highly caffeinated herb…. Another option I’ve heard to avoid staining teeth is to drink through a straw. Yes, that’s a little weird with warm beverages, but it could be an option.” Read more suggestions. [...]

I wouldnt give up coffee, what I would do is buy some hydrogen Peroxide from a pharmacist and after a cuppa, stick your toothbrish in it and brush your teeth. This is what my dentist suggested. but dont brush for too long by your gums or they go a bit white over time!

I agree with PlantingOaks, a straw can really help! You can't drink super hot beverages, but it could help when you really need your fix.

Green oolong (not fermented/black oolong) is my favorite green tea.

sadly, tea stains are much more difficult to remove from teeth. My dentist just gave me that sad fact the other day.

Green tea will do the job, or an Oolong tea if you need more caffeine.

Iced anything coffee/tea with a straw will also help.

You might try yerba mate. I've never tried it before, but it is supposedly a light colored highly caffeinated herb. j is right that any sufficiently caffeinated 'traditional' tea will be dark in color.

Another option I've heard to avoid staining teeth is to drink through a straw. Yes, that's a little weird with warm beverages, but it could be an option.

One thing you could do is take excedrin when you start getting the headache (or before). It has caffeine in it. I bring it with me when camping to avoid coffee headaches.

Any fermented, black tea will stain your teeth. I've never had green tea stain my teeth, though, but I don't know if the caffeine content will be up to what you want. It's done well for me.
