hydroponic gardening at home

I hate to admit it, but I’ve got something of a brown thumb. I just tossed my third attempt at an indoor herb garden and I’m feeling about ready to give up. I know some of the problem is the spotty light/sun situation in my apartment, but I’m determined to find a way to work around that. I wonder if growing herbs using hydroponics would pick up the slack? The Prepara Power Plant system seems easy enough (there’s a quick how-to video on the site that looks simple). According to the site you just “seed it, feed it and leave it.” It’s a lot more expensive than buying potting soil and seed packets at the hardware store, but if it guarantees success, I may just have to give in. –Erica P.

My mother bought me an Aero Garden for my birthday. While I never would have thought to buy one for myself, it’s worked great so far. We have the same lighting issue in our apartment, so I’ve never been able to grow herbs at home. And after the initial investment, it’s definitely cheaper than buying $3-4 bunches of herbs at the market that go bad before I can finish them all.
