I first saw this idea implemented as a headboard in Domino magazine a few years back: a repeating stencil was painted on the wall directly behind the bed, then framed with simple painted moldings. This version of the idea from the Do It Yourself site has you stencil a small area on the wall, then frame it with a backless frame.
