real life test kitchen: before-it's-too-late succotash

I have been wanting to make succotash for ages and finally got around to it the other weekend. Succotash! I just love the word. This recipe from October Bon Appetit finally gave me the inspiration. It’s so simple, and contains all the things available right now at the markets: Those last ears of super sweet corn, tomatoes, onion and basil. The only non-fresh ingredient was lima beans, which I bought frozen. To make, you basically saute everything with garlic and olive oil. There’s a restaurant around the corner from us that has a secret ingredient: dates. I would love to try that and experiment a bit now that I have the basics done. Next summer, it’s gonna be all about the succotash! Click recipe here for full recipe. — Angela M.
