The refrigerator dish from Crate & Barrel has a glass lid. I've used them for years and never had one break. It might leak if you use it to pack a lunch, but they are great for leftover storage. Plus, the glass lid doesn't hold come out of the dishwasher with water drops all over it like plastic lids do. They used to come in larger sizes, but now I don't see them listed.

I have these glasses- bought them years ago at Crate and Barrel. They're great - have a lot of the lids but we use them more for drinking glasses. There's the C&B link - they're cheaper than at Amazon - $1.50 each for the 14oz.

[...] 1. You know your food containers. When Erica wrote about unnamed glass storage, readers promptly helped us track them down. As T says: “That’s the Luminarc working glass. I’ve had those glasses in both the 10 oz. size you show and the 21 oz. size since college - it’s the only glass that stands up to my boyfriend’s fumble fingers. I’ve been able to find replacement glasses online, at Target, and in thrift stores.” Click here to see these handy glass containers. [...]

It occured to me just this week that some of the "green" options I've seen lately induce more consumerism. Buying plastic utensils to easily wash and dry plastic bags for reuse, for instance. An I really helping the situation by buying more plastic, or more anything? I'm not knocking the glass jars - definitely recyclable and more likely to be non-toxic. But they're also more prone to breakage when dropped, which I do constantly. I'm getting into the habit of checking "Made In" info before buying, too: Is it made in the US, or at least North America?
