I too am done shopping. I was done except for 2 photo gifts I ordered this weekend, but had been done for about 2 weeks prior to that. I am a plan WAY in advance person. I have a hard time dealing with the stress of last minute no matter what it is.

We always shop in advance. my husband hates crowds, and he refuses to go to any store more than necessary from mid-November to January. Fortunately we usually go to our local farmer's market right at 6:30 am when it opens, and my husband has recently found a grocery store that opens at 7, so at least I don't have to stock up on 6 weeks worth of food...

Funny, I'm a shop-way-in-advance type, while my husband is a last-minute type. More often than not, he wants to play a role in getting the gift, but is unwilling to even think about it until a few days beforehand.

I try to make the process less stressful by buying a bunch of cool non-personal things as I see them in stores, and then we go "shopping" from the stash when an occasion comes up. I feel kind of bad to give such generic gifts, but the alternative is no gift at all.

I have to tell my friends and family that I'm not trying to be smug by sending my gifts out before Thanksgiving - it's just that I really can't bear the lines that start everywhere the day after Thanksgiving.

This year we knocked everyone down to a $20-25 limit and that made shopping incredibly easy. We still ended up getting great gifts (cool folding reusable shopping bags, Harijuku girl perfume, desk organization items, signed books, tea that donates a percentage of proceeds to Breast Cancer research, dried fruit from the PNW). I'm actually more excited about the gifts this year than I have been about other years.

Anyway, most gifts were purchased by October. Last night I ran to Pier One and found some great "last-minute" (meaning pre-Thanksgiving) holiday gifts so I guess...I'm all...done. I'm a little sad about it but at least I won't be standing in line.

(Did that sound smug?)
