in search of soft (baby safe) ornaments

I’ve wanted to have a magnificent Christmas tree, filled with a wild assortment of ornaments collected through the years. We have a handful of ornaments, but this year opted to keep them in the storage — and away from little ten-month-old hands. I’m searching for some soft decorations to use instead. I’d love to find some felt snowflake garland, or perhaps just a couple of cute animals. I love this one: Max from Where The Wild Things Are at Urban Outfitters. Got any other suggestions? (I know, it’s late — what can I say, we’ve been nuts!) — Angela M.

Also ~ maybe get creative and tie strings to cute finger puppets? then they can be doubled/mini-gifts as fun toys for the baby?
    =)

I was just in AC Moore and saw these lovely laser cut felt ribbons that would make a nice garland for a tree- they were in the Martha Stewart Christmas section, Michaels probably has them too…And I would have to second the vote for FilzFelt – gorgeous, but really simple, stuff….

When our kids were under three, we put all the fragile ornaments up high. For the lower branches, I looped ribbon through plastic and metal (dull edges!) cookie cutters. A plus? Next year, you’ll have all the cutters for making Santa’s cookies with your daughter.

my friend has a tree of stuffed animals – most are beanie babies – littleones love it and it is pretty safe .
I decorated the tree with large gift tags9I got a pk of 100 at the office supply store) with pictures and some glitter
because the cat and pups like to play bat the ornament, and breakage got out of control.
