lovin' sundance's rustic-modern dining sets

Usually when I think of Sundance’s decor items, I envision dancing Hopi figures and cast iron mice. But today a new catalog landed in my mailbox and I am now totally in love with their dining tables matched with modern chairs. The tables have a rustic strength that would make any family gathering special, and the metal bistro chairs are the perfect modern pairing. It’s all rather pricey (over $2000 for the table and nearly $300 for each chair) but since I don’t even have a dining room (yet) I’m merely dreaming anyhow. Lovely! — Angela M.

Oh yes me too, I saw a restaurant in New York that had a whole room of them in red, it looked cool, but how long can you sit on them?
I have metal chairs and, let me tell you, you freeze your *ss off in the winter! But they’re cute!
What a really cool pairing of ideas that you’ve found here! My father is in the business of woodworking and has really turned me on to rustic tables and benches but I never would have thought to pair them with such modern furniture. In fact, I’ve mostly avoided purchasing wood tables and other pieces altogether because I tend to prefer furniture made out of other materials and never thought that they went well with wood.
These two examples here really demonstrate a way that they can go together and have me re-thinking my concept of design in my own home. One of the ways that I typically play around with design ideas is to put together different looks on idea-sharing / idea-collecting sites. I’m going to have to check through the dining section of the sites I use (like http://www.houzz.com/photos/query/dining) to see if there’s anything else like this out there. Do you know of anyone besides Sundance doing designs like this?
I forgot Sundance has a catalog, thanks for the reminder. I love their stuff!
Yes, I love these chairs. I’ve seen them in yellow, too, and have been tempted to get them in that colour – but haven’t been brave enough yet.
Okay, I hope this isn’t too negative, BUT — every year when we went to the DWR warehouse sale, they’d have rows of those metal bistro chairs. They look so cool and of course were very on sale, but the bottom line was, they are not comfortable. The arch on the back combined with the very flat seat means nothing is getting the proper support, plus the metal bar on the back hits you in an odd spot on your upper back. We never even bought them as outdoor chairs because of that. So no way would I want them as DR chairs. Feel better?
[...] 1. Metal bistro chairs may look cool, but they’re not very comfortable. Tiffany S wrote with experience: “I have metal chairs and, let me tell you, you freeze your *ss off in the winter! But they’re cute!” See the chairs and decide for yourself here. [...]
I have the real chairs (vintage, from Paris…shipped over) but will likely be selling them this Spring. They are gorgeous…but super cold on the tushy.
Maintaining the look of a rustic kitchen can be tricky since finding the ideal surface cleaner requires research. I recommend this cleaner to all my clients with rustic themed kitchens,
I love the look but the chairs would be too cold for comfort at times – as others have mentioned – and the tables would be better if they had four legs on the corners to allow for more leg room underneath. It’s best when you have the look and not compromise anything for it.
